Wolves Finally Break Duck with Convincing 3-0 Win Over West Ham

Wolverhampton Wanderers delivered a long-overdue breakthrough on Saturday, securing their first Premier League victory of the 2025-26 season with a dominant 3-0 triumph over West Ham United at Molineux.

It took 20 attempts, but the wait ended in style as Rob Edwards' side exploded for three first-half goals, lifting the gloom that had hung over the club after a historically poor start.

The scoring opened early when Jhon Arias pounced on a cross from Hwang Hee-chan just four minutes in, slotting home to give Wolves an immediate boost. The home crowd was buzzing, and things got even better around the half-hour mark. Young star Mateus Mané, the 18-year-old sensation, won a penalty after being fouled by Soungoutou Magassa in the box.

Hwang Hee-chan stepped up confidently and converted from the spot to double the lead.Mané wasn't done there. Before halftime, the teenager unleashed a fierce strike from the edge of the area—his first senior goal for the club—making it 3-0 and sending Molineux into raptures.

West Ham, managed by former Wolves boss Nuno Espírito Santo, offered little resistance, failing to register a single shot on target despite holding more possession. This win doubled Wolves' points tally to six, though they remain rooted to the bottom of the table, 12 points from safety with 18 games left. Still, it closes the gap to second-bottom Burnley to just six points and offers real hope of avoiding the worst-ever Premier League campaign. For West Ham, the defeat piles more misery on Nuno, leaving them third from bottom and winless in nine, just four points above the drop zone.

Fans chanted joyfully as the final whistle blew, a stark contrast to the frustration of recent months. Edwards has steadied the ship with promising displays lately, and this emphatic result against a direct relegation rival could spark a turnaround. For Mané, Hwang, and Arias, it was a day to remember—one that finally gave Wolves something to celebrate.
